There is five times more Dark Matter than “normal” matter in the cosmos. Still astrophysicists have not yet understood its nature. We cannot observe dark matter directly but only by its indirect effects on other objects and we can make it visible in simulations.
Dark matter is responsible for the large-scale structure of the Universe. The video shows how cosmological simulations predict the formation of that structure, dubbed “cosmic” web, containing long filaments of dark matter and huge voids in between.
